Fram Oslo – The Story
Fram Oslo is a Norwegian furniture and interior design company founded to pay tribute to Norwegian design heritage. Our products are quality products with a modern and sustainable signature lasting for generations. We are inspired by Norway’s stunning natural wonders, how function plays a vital role in design and last but not least by the beauty and purity of Norwegian local materials.
Our name, Fram Oslo, is evidence of our love for Norway. Fram means forward and is the name of history’s most famous polar ship. The polar vessel was used in expeditions of the Arctic and Antarctic regions by the Norwegian explorers Fridtjof Nansen and Roald Amundsen between 1893 and 1912. Roald Amundsen was the first man to reach the South Pole. Like our great explorers moved the world forward, our mission is to bring Norwegian design heritage into more homes around the world.
New Norwegian Design
In Norwegian history Fram is a name linked to curiosity and adventure. Through contemporary Norwegian design Fram Oslo wish to continue this story. With a number of distinguished designers on board, Fram Oslo continues the Norwegian design journey by producing sustainable products adapted to our daily needs, where functionality plays a significant role.
Stronger Together
Fram Oslo is matching designers with production opportunities. Fram Oslo provides support for new designers to navigate new markets, allowing designers and producers to focus on what they do best. We work with producers that have expert knowledge in their field and the experience we seek to bring these new designs to market.
Sustainability
Norway has a long tradition of social responsibility and charitable work. Through design Fram Oslo wish to follow in these footsteps by donating 15% of its profit to UNICEF for its work for children. We have a responsibility for how our operation effect the environment and we seek sustainability in each step of our journey.
------
The Bunad Blanket, designed by Andreas Engesvik, draws its inspiration from Norwegian traditional folk costumes, the Bunad, and each blanket relates directly to the colorways of the corresponding costume. This wealth of traditional color and pattern has been interpreted into a contemporary, classic, blanket steeped in heritage.
Fram Oslo has reached an agreement with Grinakervev to produce the blankets and pillows. Grinakervev is a weaving company with long tradition located in the beautiful Hadeland region of Norway. Grinakervev´s highly skilled weavers ensure high quality products.
