Mikaela Dörfel was born in 1955 in Finland. She studied industrial design at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg. In 1988 did she get her diploma and became right after it Design Manager for Rosenthal. She worked there for eight years, before she opened her own business as a designer in 1996. 

Since then she works from Hamburg for a lot of famous international companies like Mono or Auerhahn.

She mostly uses porcelain and stainless steel. In her career she always created new fascinating products.
